#8 Sew & Tell – WIPs, Gifts & Thrifts

#8 Sew-and-Tell

Hello Lovely Crafters, welcome to Zuzu’s Petals! 🌸 I’m Annie, a new crafter and quilter (sewing for less than 2 years).

I live on a smallholding (Homestead) in Northumberland, England where I work and craft. Come and have a cuppa with me in the garden for a relaxed little Sew & Tell β€” a chatty look at the quilts, sewing projects, gifts and rescued treasures I’ve been working on. I’ve got rather a lot on the go… πŸ˜‚ 🧡 In this episode:

  • My Courthouse Steps quilt β€” the very first project featured on Zuzu’s Petals
  • Sweet & Simple β€” my second video project
  • Summer Pride 25 🌈 β€” ready to be sandwiched
  • My Tumbling Blocks quilt β€” still mid-construction
  • Electric Dreams (formerly Cherish)
  • Kintsugi β€” my recovery quilt, currently on the design board
  • My Christmas quilts β€” still some hand quilting to finish… although I’m already thinking about starting another one! πŸŽ„
  • Evelyn & Copper’s First Year quilts β€” made from her baby clothes using a technique inspired by Lauren / Lala Sewz
  • A dress I’m making from a thrifted duvet cover β€” my first real attempt at dressmaking after Mum’s dressing gown!
  • A beautiful gifted quilt from a friend who’s moving house, which I’m planning to re-back and re-quilt
  • And a rescued quilt dating back to around the 1980s, which is currently on our bed and in need of a little TLC

I also tell you the story of how I tried to discover the history of the rescued quilt by sharing photographs on our local Facebook page. Sadly, its maker remains a mystery β€” but I love imagining the hands that carefully stitched it together all those years ago. πŸ₯°

Then we’ll have a little chit-chat about why I called the channel Zuzu’s Petals 🌸 And because this is Zuzu’s Petals, we finish with a little glimpse of life outside the sewing room β€” pollinators on the buddleia πŸ₯€ If you enjoy quilting, sewing, memory quilts, thrifting, rescuing old treasures or simply having a cosy chat over a cuppa, I’d love you to subscribe and join me here at Zuzu’s Petals.
